Twinwood Festival is held at the historic RAF Twinwood Farm Airfield, in Bedfordshire. For detailed travel directions Click Here, or alternatively, consult the interactive map below.
We are easily accessible from the M1 Junctions 13 & 14, the A1 and the A6.
If you are driving from the South, East and West: You will come through Bedford. Clapham is the First village North of Bedford off the A6. Take the A6 going north from Bedford and at the last roundabout on the outskirts of Bedford take the Clapham turn, this road takes you through the village of Clapham and Twinwood Road is off the last roundabout in Clapham Village (3rd Exit for Twinwood Road). Proceed up Twinwood Rd for ½ mile until the woodland and turn right to Twinwood Arena & Glenn Miller Museum.
If you are driving from the North: Follow the A6 towards Bedford. After the village of Milton Ernest, take the slip road signposted towards Clapham. Go up the hill to the roundabout, straight across and down the hill. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit for Twinwood Road. Proceed up Twinwood Rd for ½ mile until the woodland and turn right to Twinwood Arena & Glenn Miller Museum.
Warning! Some Sat Nav systems will send you on a wild goose chase as you near Clapham!
The crucial thing to remember is that you can ONLY access the festival site via Twinwood Road, which in turn can ONLY be accessed from a roundabout on Milton Road in the village of Clapham, Bedfordshire.
Please study a traditional map before setting off, and don't blindly trust Sat Nav!
The only truly reliable way to get Sat Nav behaving nicely is to input these latitude/longitude numbers: N52.1692492 W0.5049295 . These coordinates will take you to the Milton Road/Twinwood Road roundabout, and from there go up Twinwood Road for just over half a mile, and you'll spot the festival entrance on the right.
Bedford Railway Station is serviced by First Capital Connect trains (connecting Bedford to London and the South) and East Midlands Trains (connecting Bedford to the North). Bedford Station is 3 miles from Twinwood Airfield, and it is advised to take a taxi from the Station to reach Twinwood Airfield. (If you are fit enough, by bringing a bicycle onto the train, you can cycle to Twinwood. Note - most train operators welcome cycles, but some have time restrictions, so please check)
Bedford Bus Station is serviced by Stagecoach. The X5 bus connects Bedford to Milton Keynes Coachway. From Milton Keynes, the National Express bus service operates, meaning that it is possible to reach Bedford from most locations.
The Stagecoach, No. 51 bus from Bedford to Clapham runs every 20 minutes, HOWEVER Twinwood Airfield is 1¾ miles outside the village and is an uphill walk. (It may prove easier to catch a taxi from Bedford Bus Station.)
