Learn 1950s Glamorous Soft Waves

Re-create a vintage hairstyle inspired by actresses like Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.

Step 1

Create a side parting and then curl your hair with a heated tong.

Step 2

Tong each curl and then clip it in place. Work all the way around your head. Leave your hair to cool.

Step 3

Once the curls are cold, backcomb the front a little to create volume at the roots.

Step 4

Brush your hair through so the curls become soft waves. Use long hair clips to hold the waves in shape and set the style with hairspray.

Step 5

Twist the smaller side of the side parting, clip it behind your ear. Remove all the clips and you are finished.
